Small Business Server 2011 is here!

As many of our loyal clients know, MERIT Solutions has been providing installation and support of Windows Small Business Server (SBS) since before it was even known by that name. When it was initially released in 1997, it was known as BackOffice Small Business Server 4.0 and it would support only 25 users. Seeing the value in the combination of features, we started using it internally, then began promoting it to our clients, many of whom had never even owned a server. Since then, our company has grown along side of this great software package. The newest release began shipping this month to Volume License clients and should be shipping soon for OEM manufacturers such as Dell, HP and Lenovo. Along with some changes in the licensing of the Premium features, most of the differences between the new version and the previous SBS 2008 version are subtle. Microsoft has also announced a new version called SBS 2011 Essentials that is limited to 25 users and does not include the on-premise Exchange and SharePoint services. If you have any questions about either of these product, feel free to call our office or leave us a note on the contact form on our website. Our first SBS 2011 installation will roll out sometime in the next two weeks and we look forward to upgrading many of our clients, especially those who want to keep and control their data and email in-house, to the latest version of this popular package.
